Polybutylene pipe case
DuPont settlement -
The settlement with DuPont USA covers systems made of polybutylene pipes
and acetal insert fittings. The acetal fittings that connect the
pipes are usually gray, but occasionally white, plastic. The pipe and
fittings are secured together by crimp rings made of aluminum or copper.
Please note that in order to make a claim under the DuPont USA settlement,
your plumbing or heating system must contain the acetal insert fittings.
Qualified repairs and
replacement of the system must be completed within 15 years of the date on
which the polybutylene system was installed. Although there is no
specified date for claims to be submitted, it is to your advantage to make
your claim as soon as possible as there is a dollar limit to the total
claims under the settlement, and once it is reached no further claims will
be paid.
